Gareth Pugh x Nick Knight for Mercedes-Benz Ad

behind the scenes making it happen…

Working alongside two of the finest names in the world of designer fashion, Mercedes-Benz looked towards famed fashion designer Gareth Pugh as well as equally renowned fashion photograph Nick Knight for an upcoming ad campaign, featuring Mercedes-Benz’s new SLS AMG. Along with model Julia Stegner, both creatives develop an interesting campaign for the German car maker, offering their own unique touches to the projects. Images of the shoot as well as a video can be seen below.

Italian VOGUE x BLACK ISSUE vol 2

As you know from the last post that the Italian Vogue magazine published it’s “Black Issue” back in July 2008. I would have hoped they would do this annually. I was disapointed when I went to look for the 2009 version of the 08 Smash. But what I did find was quite intriging. In July 2009 Italian Vogue’s new “Black Issue” had a new muse.The Iconic Barbie has been given a numerous makeovers throughout the years. This year marks the 50 year anniversary of the toymaker Mattel’s Barbie Dolls. The first Black Barbie was introduced in 1980 (the first black doll from Barbie was actually introduced in 1967 and was called Black Francie) and this year, a new black Barbie (limited edition) was introduced by Mattel. Called So In Style, S.I.S, the new Black Barbies have more accurate facial characteristics. My little sisters certainly aren’t little girls any more but they have an extensive Barbie Collection. It’s not insane becuase im sure that there are woman all over the world who have an inconceivable collection.

ITALIAN VOGUE “BLACK ISSUE” REVISTED

I don’t know how you missed this,

Back in July of 2008 Vogue Italia published their “BLACK ISSUE”. Yes they did! In this issue Italian VOGUE used all women of color to model in the pictorials. This is the 1st time a mainstream magazine of that caliber has done something like this. It is was positive step toward EQUALITY. The Models included The GREAT Naomi Campbell, IMAN,  Tyra Banks, Liya Kebede , Chanel Iman, Jourdan Dunn, Alek Wek, Karen Alexander, Naomi Lenoir, Pat Cleveland and ANTM participant Toccara Jones.

So Let’s Celebrate The Beauty In All Woman.
